Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, which is employed to stop the so-called e-mail spoofing where an email message can be sent from one e-mail, but to look as being sent from a different one, frequently with the objective to scam the recipient in some way. When SPF protection is activated for a domain, a specific record is made for it in the Domain Name System and all the DNS servers around the world get it. The record includes all the mail servers that are permitted to send valid messages from an address under the domain. When an email is sent, the first DNS server it encounters verifies the SPF record and in case its sending server is permitted, the message is sent to the target destination. When, however, the sending server is not included in the SPF record for the given domain, the email message won't be sent and it'll be discarded. In case you employ this solution, it'll stop third parties from sending spam messages that seem to have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Shared Web Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for any domain hosted in a shared web hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with no more than a few clicks. The feature can be found in the Emails section of our advanced Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to use it is to pick one of your domain names from a drop-down list and to enter the hostnames and the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers that will be permitted to send emails from your emails. As an added option you may also restrict the messages to be sent from your domain name only if it includes our MX records, in other words if our servers handle the email addresses for it, not some third-party supplier. This feature provides you with the top level of security, but it is not applicable in case only your website is on our servers while your e-mail addresses for the domain are taken care of in another place. In either case, the SPF protection service will keep your email addresses risk-free from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have a semi-dedicated server account from us, you will be able to secure your emails by enabling the SPF protection service for every domain name hosted in your account with just a couple of mouse-clicks. This is done from the Emails section of the Hepsia Control Panel which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts and even if you lack previous experience with these issues, you won't have any difficulties to activate the security. Everything that you'll have to do will be to pick a domain name from a drop-down menu and then type the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. The moment the new record propagates, messages from your email addresses will be mailed globally only if they're sent from that specific server. When your email addresses are managed by our company and not by a third-party provider, you will also be able to activate an option for email messages to be sent only when the domain contains our MX records and this is the most secure option. When you have any kind of questions about thisfunction, you'll be able to get in touch with our support team 24/7.
